At Williamstown North Primary School we are lucky to have a Library full of picture-story, fiction, non-fiction and reference books. Below, are some answers to commonly asked questions about our library.
How often can I go to the library?
Your class will have a scheduled Library session each week. In this time, you have the opportunity to listen to stories, learn about how a library is organised, browse through books, research specific topics and be able to borrow. Ask your teacher when your special Library time is.
How can I borrow my book? How long do I have to read it?
You can borrow one book at a time, for up to two weeks. Before you leave the library, your teacher or special monitors will use the computer and scanner to record your book under your name. This means that you are now responsible for looking after this book, and for returning it to the library on time. Always bring your library book back on the day of your allocated library session.
If you still haven’t finished reading your book before it is due back, you can have it renewed for another two weeks. Just bring your book back, and ask your teacher to renew it for you.
What happens if I forget to bring my book back?
Sadly, if your book is overdue, you won’t be able to borrow until it has been returned. If you are unsure whether you have returned your book or not, ask your teacher to check on the computer for you. Your teacher may complete an 'Overdue Notice' for you to take home to your parents.
If you lose or damage your book, we will have to ask you to pay for it, so that it can be replaced. So please, always make sure that you are taking responsibility for your book, taking great care of it, and returning it on time.
