CRE

What is it?

Christian Education (CRE) is a 30-minute weekly program for primary school students in Victoria. CRE gives students the opportunity to explore Christian beliefs and values which provide strong foundations for life.

Who teachers it?

CRE Pic 1 The CRE program is taught at WNPS by accredited volunteer teachers. Currently CRE is offered in Years 1 to 4.

Teachers are accredited and trained by ACCESS ministries and undergo a Working with Children Check before teaching. CRE teachers represent all the Christian churches and come from a variety of backgrounds. The training program for CRE teachers is constantly updated to reflect best practice in contemporary education.

The CRE teachers for 2009 are:

Patti Riters - Year 1T & 1H

Wendy Johnson - Year 2L & 2M

Elizabeth White - Year 2B & 2OC

Astrid Jasper - Year 4P & 3D

Rodger Duff- Year 4K & 4I

Ann Hodges - 4S, 3V & 3N

Team Leader for Year 1 & 2 is Wendy Johnson.

Team Leader for Year 3 & 4 is Astrid Jasper.

CRE Incursions for Years 3 to 6

Each Term there is a Values based presentation by OAC Ministries for Years 3 to 6. The presentatiions compliment our school's "You Can Do iI !" values.  The presentation is interactive using audio visual, drama and puppets to actively engage the children.

The OAC team is endorsed by ACCESS ministries and complies with Victorian Learning standards.

 CRE Christmas Celebration

CRE Christmas Celebration , Wednesday, 2nd   December, 2009

St Stephens Uniting Church, 177 Melbourne Rd, Williamstown

All the school students enrolled for CRE will be involved with this wonderful celebration of Christmas. We are running Christmas Service preparations for all classes thanks to our team of  CRE teachers. The classes are hearing the Christmas Story and its significance and preparing their items for the celebration services.

The children will walk to the church. Parents, family and friends are welcome to walk with their class or meet at St Stephens Church (parking at rear paddock). Please contact your class teacher if you are able to walk with your child’s class. Children not currently enrolled for CRE may attend the Celebration if a note is given to the class teacher.

There are three services to cover the whole school:

1. 9.20am-10.20am : Prep V,Prep M,  1T, 1H, 2B, 2M, 4P 4S  5/6O, 5/6B

2. 10.40am-11.30am: Prep K , 1R, 1S,    2L, 3N, 3D , 4I,5/6C

3. 12.00pm-12.50pm : Prep B, 2O, 3V , 4K,  5/6F, 5/6P. 5/6M, 5/6H

NB: Please allow 15mins to walk to Church

Christmas food items (non-perishable) for Hobson's Bay Food Relief Christmas Hampers are being collected again. Please send donations to your child's classroom by Wednesday 2nd   December.

We hope the CRE Christmas Celebration is a time of Reflection, Joy and Peace for all.

 

The CRE  curriculum, developed by ACCESS ministries, complements the state school curriculum and is student-focused, educationally sound, Biblically faithful, theologically clear and contextually appropriate.
