ICT Term 3 2009ICT Term 3 2009 

TERM 4 OVERVIEW

PREP

Students in Prep will continue learning to log on and log off the school network and have some fun creating animated digital stories with 2create a story (including using microphones to record their voices). They will also use Microsoft  Word applications, including designing pictures using Autoshape and resizing pictures and Clip Art. By term 4 the children are expected to:

  • Log on and off, shut down
  • Locate familiar programs                                                   
  • Single click mouse
  • Identify and use letters and numbers on the keyboard
  • Use the toolbar on Paint, KidPix
  • Print, open, close/quit/exit
  • Locate, open and close familiar programs
  • Present published work
  • Share understandings through discussions
  • Reflect on their learnings.

Year 1 & 2

The Year 1/2 students will continue learning some features of Microsoft Word and practise their keyboard recognition skills using games called 10FingerBreakOut and Dance mat. They will use mindmapping skills using the program Inspirations 6 to elaborate on their Inquiry topic Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies. E-mailing peers is also on the agenda.

Year 3 & 4

Students in Year 3/4 will be using SuperClubsPLUS as an ICT communication tool and creating their own web pages using their integrated topic as a focus. They will revise Cybersafety,e-mail club members, join a forum

They will also have a go at researching their Inquiry topic, using Google, Blackle and Encarta.

INTERNET RESEARCH SKILLS include:

  • Key words
  • Note taking
  • Verify fact/fiction/reputable info

The children will also use PAINT/ WORD to design and create a Puppet –hand/stick.

Maintaing a recount and reflection of ICT activities in their Digital Portfolios is ongoing.

Year 5& 6

Students this term will continue FRONTPAGE –Digital Portfolios – continually reflect ICT tasks and hyperlink work into.

  • Inquiry Research
  • refine search techniques
  • key words
  • note taking
  • verify fact/fiction/reputable info

INSPIRATIONS 6

Students use the information they learnt from Inquiry to create Inspiration Concept Maps

  • Create diagrams
  • Picture and writing views
  • Link symbols and text
  • Import pictures
