Prep

Term 4 Overview 

 During Term 4, as part of our inquiry, the Prep student’s will be looking at how we can keep ourselves safe, and who we can turn to for help.

In Literacy students will continue to consolidate their skills in writing. They will be introduced to a range of different genres such as; imaginative recounts and information texts. They will also be developing their ability to re-read and self correct their own writing.  

Students will be focussing on handwriting, with a continued emphasis on the correct formation of letters and the correct use of punctuation in their writing. Students will also further their skills in the use of dotted third lines.

In Reading, students will continue being exposed to a variety of texts in their small Guided Reading Groups. Students will focus on developing their comprehension skills, and ability to read with fluency and expression whilst reading aloud. They will continue to read books from their just right box independently.

 In Numeracy, students will further consolidate their knowledge of numbers to 20.  Open ended activities will be provided for the students to practise their problem solving skills.

Students will further their knowledge of addition and subtraction, with a focus on number facts as well as doubles and near doubles to calculate the answer. 

Students will continue meeting with their Year 6 Buddy on a weekly basis, completing a variety of activities, allowing them to practise team work skills.

 During Week 3 students will be involved in the Bar-Be-Que-Riffic Prep Party where they will participate in the prep disco and a range of fun party games.

As the school year end nears, Prep students will as part of the annual school Concert in week 10.

• contact your child’s teacher before or after school and arrange a time to meet or

• Send a note to school with your child. 

We will endeavour to reply as soon as possible and arrange a time to meet at everyone’s earliest convenience.
