Year 1 & 2
Term 4 Overview
This term begins with The Big Night In. The children will have a fun filled night with pizza, a magician, and a disco. Year Two students will sleep over and the Year Ones will leave at 9:30.
Our Inquiry Learning this term is: “ Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds”
The children will be looking at the following:

People’s health needs.

The body parts and functions.
-
Healthy diets, emotional and physical needs which contribute to their wellbeing.

Good reasons for rules that keep them safe.
This term’s School Value focus is Respect and the You Can Do! key Getting Along will be revisited to support good habits in the children’s learning. There will be a whole school incursion called Mana-Spirit of Polynesia which will support good habits for their wellbeing.
Maths
In Maths students will continue to consolidate and revise their skills in number, including division, capacity, chance and data, location and basic mapping. Open ended problem solving and finding multiple ways of solving problems will continue. Activities will relate to real life situations to make mathematics relevant.
Literacy
In Literacy the students will be focusing on the procedural and exposition texts, including letter writing, cartoons, speech bubbles and making lists. Handwriting skills will continue to be developed. A strong emphasis will continue to be placed on Independent Reading and comprehension. The skills of inferring, questioning and making deeper connections, will be addressed this term. Your continued support with home daily reading is appreciated.

End of Year break up activities to be arranged.
The year will conclude with a spectacular school Concert at the Williamstown Town Hall on December 9th and 10th where we can celebrate the year’s achievements. We thank you for all your support throughout the year and take this opportunity to wish you all the best for the Christmas break.
