2023 Teaching Teams

We begin this week’s newsletter by excitedly announcing our teaching teams for 2023. We have one final selection process to complete next week for a Year 2 class before we have our full complement of teachers for 2023 confirmed. In supporting flexible work place arrangements for our wonderful teachers, you will see that six of the twenty-eight classes are shared grades.

Where names are in bold lettering, this denotes the team leader for that year level.

We are delighted to have supported our teachers with their preferences for next year and to have achieved a terrific balance of experience, interests and proficiencies in each of the teams.

Please note that all students will meet their new teachers during the final stage of our transition program on Friday 16th December at 10:30pm.

Community Carols

As previously promoted, our school’s Community Carols will be held next Tuesday 13th December. We sincerely hope that you will be able to come along to help celebrate the 2022 school year as well as the upcoming festive season.

For those who would like to bring along a picnic dinner, gates will open from 6:15pm. If you are planning to just come along for the performances, these will get underway at 7pm. We anticipate the carols will finish up just after 8:00pm with the teacher’s act scheduled as the last performance – which is always good for a laugh!

We hope all school families will be able to make it!

Christmas Food Drive

This year’s Xmas food drive is in support of Anglicare, who do a great job in our local community supporting families in need. Two large crates have been set up in the main foyer for any donations of non-perishable food items. Last year’s response to this Xmas food drive was simply amazing! Let’s see if we can all band together again as a school community to support those local families who really need a hand this festive season.

Staff Training Days for 2023

To support your planning for 2023, please make note of the four designated student free days for next year, which have now been endorsed by our School Council:

Term One

Day One: Friday 27th January

Day Two: Friday 10th March

Term Three

Day Three: Monday 7th August

Term Four

Day Four: Monday 6th November

Loud Shirt Day

A huge thank you to all families who sent along a gold coin donation last Friday in support of Loud Shirt Day, which was organised by our Junior School Council. It was a highly successful initiative with just under $800 raised for the Nextsense organisation which supports children with hearing and vision loss. Congratulations to our JSC students on such a successful fundraising venture!

Grounds Access over the Summer Break

Please note that the school grounds will be locked down from Wednesday 21st December until Monday 9th January. Families will be able to access the grounds for recreation on a daily basis from Monday 9th January to Thursday 26th January. Teachers will resume back full time on Friday 27th January, with all students starting the new academic year on Monday 30th January. We thank our school council for their ongoing discussions on this matter, as we aim to find a balance between keeping the school secure whilst also providing community access.

Enjoy the rest of the Week

Jim Cahill—Principal

Year 5 & 6 State Sofcrosse Event:

Last Friday 2nd December the students from years 5 and 6 competed in the State finals of Sofcrosse (modified Lacrosse) at Fawkner Park. Firstly, a big thank you to all Parents & Carers who were able to get their children at school early for our departure. Both of the Girls & Boys teams played a series of games across the day against a very high level of competition. In an intense and high scoring format, all students were able to showcase their skills brilliantly. Unfortunately, the results didn’t go our way, but all students showed great sportsmanship and school values. A huge thank you to the parents that came out on the day to support our students. A huge thanks to Duglas for coaching the Boys team in both our events. Also, to Damien Orr from Williamstown Lacrosse Club for running coaching sessions for our students, as well as for supplying us with higher quality equipment on the day.

Big thank you the from Physical Education team:

On behalf of the Physical Education team, we would like to say a massive thank you to all Parents & Carers who have supported their children and other students this year with all events. Without the generous effort and assistance, our Interschool Sporting events would not be possible. All students thoroughly enjoy the support and appearance from extra help too! We wish all the current Year Six students all the best for next year and beyond and look forward to all other year levels performing next year.
