A Message from the Principal

We warmly welcome all members of our school community to the 2019 academic year.

Our school enrolments have remained relatively stable over recent months with approximately 800 students beginning the year across 32 classrooms.

We have been very busy over the summer period upgrading our facilities and excited to be starting the school year with another new double storey building, which will accommodate most of our Year 3 classes this year.

Our school community will mobilise over the coming weeks to host thousands of visitors to the school for our biennial School Fete on Sunday 17th March.

The Fete is the school’s major fundraising event every two years and the planning is now in place to ensure it should be another spectacular event. Stay tuned throughout the term for more information!

Students in Years 3 & 4 will participate in a two week intensive swimming program beginning on Monday 18th February.

In week 5 of the term, we will be hosting Parent Information Sessions after school. These sessions aim to provide parents with an overview of the school year and the nature of the learning programs at each of the year levels.

Parent/Teacher/Student (PTS) Conferences will be held towards the end of the term to provide parents with a brief overview about each child’s start to the school year as well as the individual Learning Goals emerging for each student.

Athletics Day competitions will be held for students in Years 3 & 4 on Monday 25th March and Years 5 & 6 on Tuesday 26th March. Students in Foundation to Year 2, will participate in a Tabloid Sports day on Wednesday 27th March.

There is one staff training day scheduled this term for Friday 22nd February where students do not attend school, as well as the school being closed for the annual Labour day holiday on Monday 11th March.

Term one will conclude on Friday 5th April. With such a busy term ahead we encourage all parents to track the weekly updates through the school newsletter, particularly as we get closer to the Fete.

Everything is certainly well in place for another great term at Willy North!
